Tax Accountant

Position Summary: The Tax Accountant supports the tax and financial needs of clients through the preparation of tax returns, projections, and related consulting projects. This role requires strong collaboration, analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, pass-through entities, and private foundations.
  • Prepare quarterly tax projections and track taxable events using internal and external data.
  • Assist in business consulting projects, including buy/sell analysis, IRR analysis, net worth analysis, and other accounting or tax-related assignments.
  • Research complex tax matters, communicate findings, and contribute to tax planning strategies.
  • Analyze tax information to determine tax liabilities, applying knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and tax rates.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships to ensure client needs are met accurately and efficiently.
  • Correspond with taxing authorities to resolve notices and identify opportunities to minimize tax liability.
  • Support clients with services such as business planning, accounting, investment coordination, estate planning, insurance, philanthropic strategies, and general financial planning.
  • Participate in preparing materials and presentations for client review meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or equivalent field.
  • Working toward or have already earned Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Foundational understanding of federal and state tax concepts relevant to preparing and reviewing tax returns.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative team player with a professional and client-focused demeanor.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and maintains a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, tax research software, and tax preparation applications (experience with CCH Access and Workstream preferred).
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
