Senior Accountant (CPA Required)
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions, with a primary focus on month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, audit support, and tax compliance. This highly visible role partners with finance leadership and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and identify opportunities for process improvements. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented CPA who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and enjoys both technical accounting and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities

Lead month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Review balance sheet and income statement activity, investigate variances, and provide financial analysis.

Prepare and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

Ensure accuracy and integrity of general ledger activity and financial records.

Serve as a finance partner to internal departments, answering questions and providing financial support.

Coordinate external audit activities, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests.

Support federal and state tax compliance processes and review supporting documentation.

Maintain and improve accounting processes, reports, and ERP system templates.

Assist with inventory, insurance, and other financial reporting requirements.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.

Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- CPA required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting external audits and tax compliance activities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
- Experience with ERP or general ledger systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior accounting staff preferred.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous process improvement.
