Senior Accountant

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial planning, budgeting, and reporting processes while contributing to core accounting functions and month-end close. This role provides insight into financial performance, identifies opportunities for improvement, and helps enhance reporting and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Support budgeting and financial planning processes; monitor performance against budget
  • Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations
  • Manage sales tax processes, including journal entries and filings (Avalara experience preferred)
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and related accounting
  • Perform lease accounting under ASC 842
  • Support vehicle fleet accounting, including reporting and journal entries
  • Analyze expenses versus budget and provide insights
  • Develop and maintain financial reports and assist with report creation
  • Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and management reports
  • Support audit processes and year-end activities
  • Cross-train and assist with other accounting functions as needed
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Flexible and able to work additional hours as needed
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
