Senior Accountant
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of assigned entities and provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to staff accountants. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, the ability to mentor and develop others, and experience managing complex accounting activities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review general ledger entries to ensure accurate recording of transactions in accordance with accounting standards

Review general ledger account reconciliations for accuracy, completeness, and resolution of discrepancies

Provide training, oversight, and mentorship to staff accountants; serve as a primary resource for issue resolution and professional development

Develop, document, and enhance accounting processes and standard procedures

Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders, providing guidance on accounting policies and compliance with governing legal documents

Monitor cash flows for assigned entities to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational and financial requirements

Review and approve disbursements

Prepare loan schedules and initiate wire/ACH transactions for distributions, loan advances, and payments, ensuring required approvals are obtained

Review legal and closing documents to identify inconsistencies with financial records and coordinate resolution with legal and accounting partners

Prepare customized financial statements and client-specific reporting packages

Assist with audits and tax return preparation by third-party firms as needed

Prepare investor reporting in accordance with governing legal documents

Complete ad hoc projects as assigned
Qualifications
Required
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent relevant experience

Strong full-cycle accounting and general ledger experience

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills

Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve exceptions and data inconsistencies

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
Preferred

Leadership or mentoring experience (formal or informal)
