Payroll & Benefits Manager
Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Manager to oversee payroll processing, employee benefits administration, and HRIS management. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll, delivering exceptional employee support, maintaining HR system integrity, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experienced in managing payroll, benefits, and HR technology in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management

Oversee and process semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments

Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, tax withholdings, and payroll reconciliations

Partner with Finance to support payroll reporting, audits, and compliance activities

Coordinate retirement plan contributions and required payroll reporting

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Benefits Administration

Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, wellness, and retirement plans

Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions, enrollments, and claims

Manage new hire enrollments, life events, COBRA administration, open enrollment, and benefit status changes

Coordinate FMLA, leave of absence, and workers' compensation administration

Partner with benefit brokers and vendors to maintain competitive, cost-effective benefit programs

Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable regulations
HRIS Management

Maintain and optimize the HRIS to ensure data integrity and efficient HR operations

Serve as the HRIS system administrator, including troubleshooting, system updates, and user support

Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics to support business and HR decision-making

Lead HRIS enhancements, integrations, and continuous process improvement initiatives

Train HR team members on HRIS functionality and best practices
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred

3–5+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience

Experience processing payroll using an HRIS/payroll system (UKG Ready experience preferred)

Strong knowledge of payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, and employee benefits administration

Experience with ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, and related compliance requirements

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to manage confidential information while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
