Controller

Position Overview: We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing organization. This role will be responsible for strengthening financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, systems, and internal processes while serving as a strategic partner to leadership.
The ideal candidate is a strong accounting leader who enjoys building and improving processes, developing teams, leveraging technology, and working cross-functionally to support business growth.
This position is remote eligible for candidates located in the St. Louis area.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Strengthen cash forecasting, working capital visibility, and overall financial discipline.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting and finance team.
  • Improve accounting systems, reporting, automation, and scalable processes.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, HR, and other teams to support business decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Support integration of acquisitions and development of repeatable financial processes.
  • Provide oversight and guidance across broader shared-service functions as needed.
  • Remain hands-on with accounting and finance activities while balancing strategic leadership responsibilities.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
  • Progressive finance leadership experience as a Controller, Director of Finance, VP of Finance, or similar role.
  • Strong accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management experience.
  • Experience building, developing, or improving finance teams and processes.
  • Strong systems and technology orientation with experience implementing automation and process improvements.
  • Experience in a growing, entrepreneurial, or mid-sized organization preferred.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Acquisition or integration experience preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP/accounting systems preferred.
  • Hands-on, proactive leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
