Controller

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and manage a team to deliver high-quality financial reporting and advisory services, primarily supporting a portfolio of clients in a service-based environment. This role acts as both a people leader and strategic partner, overseeing day-to-day accounting activities while providing insights that drive financial clarity and organizational impact.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial services
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Review and analyze financial statements to assess performance and ensure accuracy and audit readiness
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis for clients
  • Serve as a strategic advisor, presenting financial insights to leadership and key stakeholders
  • Manage multiple client relationships, ensuring high service levels and long-term satisfaction
  • Maintain and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting standards
  • Support audit and tax processes, including coordination with external partners
  • Monitor team performance, KPIs, and deadlines, and proactively address gaps
  • Drive process improvements, scalability, and operational efficiency within the accounting function
  • Participate in onboarding new clients and integrating accounting processes
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3-5+ years of full-cycle accounting or public accounting experience
  • 2+ years of team leadership or management experience preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
  • Experience in client-facing, service-based, or nonprofit environments preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
