Controller

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function within a fast-growing, investment-focused organization, serving as a key partner to executive leadership. This role goes beyond traditional accounting by combining financial oversight with strategic insight, operational collaboration, and performance-driven analysis. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is detail-oriented but forward-looking, analytical but curious, and energized by building structure and driving results. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and oversee the full accounting function, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and scalability of financial reporting
  • Lead and continuously improve the month-end close process, focusing on speed, accuracy, and reporting discipline
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support business decisions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and finance teams to align financial results with business performance
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and uncover opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting, including KPIs and performance metrics
  • Build and strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and financial infrastructure to support growth
  • Identify gaps, implement structure, and drive continuous process improvement
  • Support oversight of payroll, benefits, and administrative functions in coordination with external partners
  • Leverage technology and automation to improve efficiency and insights
  • Lead, develop, and grow the accounting team, establishing accountability and consistency across the function
 
Qualifications
  • 5–7+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibility
  • Experience in fast-paced environments preferred
  • Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to improve close processes and drive operational discipline
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to partner across teams and influence leadership
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, curious mindset
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to think strategically
  • Experience building and developing teams
  • Motivated, driven, and comfortable operating in a high-growth, evolving environment
