Assistant Controller

Job Overview: The Assistant Controller plays a key leadership role in global accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with US GAAP and SOX. This role supports the Corporate Controller in overseeing financial close, consolidations, technical accounting, and external reporting, while driving process improvements and supporting strategic initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting & Close: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements; coordinate with global teams to ensure compliance and alignment.
  • Technical Accounting: Provide guidance on complex accounting areas (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 805, ASC 718, ASC 842); develop and maintain accounting policies; prepare technical memos.
  • Business Advisory: Support M&A, entity restructuring, and tax planning; partner with cross-functional teams on financial analysis, capital allocation, and cash flow planning.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure SOX compliance; oversee account reconciliations, variance analyses, and audit processes.
  • Process Improvement & Systems: Drive automation and efficiency in reporting and close cycles; support ERP enhancements and system implementations.
  • Risk Management & Treasury: Monitor foreign currency exposure; assist in hedging strategies; manage treasury policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop accounting staff; provide mentorship, training, and succession planning.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX, and technical accounting
  • Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems (e.g., NetSuite)
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment
