Accounting Manager
Position Overview: Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee a team of accounting professionals while ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of accounting services. This role combines team leadership with hands-on accounting oversight and is responsible for maintaining high-quality financial reporting, supporting audits, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical accounting expertise and a passion for developing people.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals

Conduct team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing coaching

Monitor workloads, deadlines, and project progress to ensure timely completion of deliverables

Allocate resources and delegate work to maximize team efficiency

Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
-
Provide guidance and support to team members while removing roadblocks and resolving issues
-
Coordinate team coverage during planned and unplanned absences
-
Collaborate with leadership to improve workflows, strengthen internal controls, and enhance operational efficiency

Support quality assurance initiatives to ensure accuracy and compliance
-
Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team
Client Responsibilities

Review monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules for accuracy and GAAP compliance

Ensure financial records are audit-ready and coordinate with external auditors throughout the audit process

Review client deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery

Monitor grant and restricted fund activity, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements

Support annual compliance activities, including 1099 reporting

Participate in client onboarding to understand accounting processes and establish best practices

Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy

Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and complex accounting issues

Assist with special projects, including chart of accounts maintenance, financial clean-up projects, and cash-to-accrual conversions

Partner with leadership to ensure exceptional client service and continuous process improvement
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or outsourced accounting services

Previous supervisory or management experience preferred

Nonprofit accounting experience preferred

CPA preferred

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software

Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities while leading a collaborative, high-performing team
