Accounting Manager 

Position Overview: The Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting and payroll operations within the organization. This leadership role includes managing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and optimizing financial reporting functions. The candidate will collaborate closely with executive management to support strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement in financial processes. The position offers an opportunity to lead impactful projects, including transitioning payroll processing in-house, while maintaining accuracy and regulatory compliance.
 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead month-end closing processes, including journal entries, bank and general ledger reconciliations, and the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Manage revenue cycle processes for Work-in-Progress including revenue recognition and balance sheet updates
  • Monitor financial performance through variance analysis and budget tracking
  • Administer all payroll functions, supervise the current third-party payroll processor, and lead the initiative to bring payroll processing in-house
  • Ensure compliance with union regulations and pay rates as well as accurate reporting of union benefit contributions
  • Provide leadership and development to payroll team members
  • Assist the CFO in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and strategic recommendations for ownership
  • Support tax compliance efforts and coordinate external audits
  • Participate in various ad hoc projects aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency and financial accuracy
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in payroll and accounting roles, with proven leadership responsibilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll processing, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with payroll systems and process management preferred
  • Industry experience, particularly within construction and with related ERP software, is advantageous
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop teams effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial software applications
  • Discretion and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
