Accounting Manager 

Position Overview: The Accounting Manager is responsible for building and overseeing a centralized shared-services accounting function across multiple locations. This role standardizes processes, strengthens internal controls, and ensures efficient, accurate financial operations. It requires strong leadership, communication, and project-management skills to guide transitions from decentralized processes while minimizing business disruption.
 
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting Management
  • Lead the month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement review.
  • Maintain and analyze the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare non-routine journal entries for special projects and integrations.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities in partnership with operational and finance leaders.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights.
  • Produce and distribute KPIs and financial statements with detailed, segmented analysis.
  • Conduct periodic balance sheet reviews.
Treasury 
  • Administer banking infrastructure and user access.
  • Support cash flow management, including funding payroll and major expenditures.
Payroll Accounting
  • Oversee payroll accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Manage payroll-related accruals such as bonuses, benefits, and time-off balances.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate payroll setup for new locations or teams.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
  • Ensure timely, accurate completion of all accounting functions.
Process Improvement & Automation
  • Evaluate and streamline workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead automation initiatives using ERP systems, treasury platforms, and data tools.
Systems Integrations
  • Manage the onboarding and integration of new sites into centralized accounting systems and processes.
Audit & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure strong internal controls.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of general accounting experience.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or PMP certification.
  • Multi-site payroll experience.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP accounting software (SAGE Intacct and BILL preferred).
